Debrief: 2017

Well, it’s been another great year.

There sure have been some crazy at times (and don’t get me started on politics…), but not unlike last year, this has been the best year yet for Protection Circle, and for me personally. The blog shot up to over 80,000 reads this year alone, and readership since its inception has topped the 190,000 mark.

I want to thank each and every person who has read, commented on, shared, recommended, promoted, collaborated on, given feedback on, offered help or even just mentioned Protection Circle. You know who you are (and so do I), and the fact that there are way too many of you to mention by name makes me happy, proud and extremely appreciative.

As you must know by now, I published my first book, Surveillance Zone, back in June. For a first-time author, the book did very well. Immediately with its publication it hit #1 on Amazon’s bestseller list in its categories, and during the six months since then, it’s been hovering in the single and low-double digits in those ranks.

I want to thank each and every person who has bought, read, reviewed, promoted, recommended or even just mentioned Surveillance Zone. Writing and publishing this thing has been a wild, crazy and humbling ride, and I deeply appreciate everyone who’s come along with me on it.

Looking ahead, the fun is going to continue in 2018.
I’ve just started working on an audio version for Surveillance Zone. I myself am a huge audiobook consumer, and now that I have my own book out, it’s only fair that I join that club too. Since, as a consumer, I like it when authors narrate their own books, I will be narrating Surveillance Zone myself. But to make the deal even sweeter, I plan on recording some extra tidbits that didn’t make it into the printed version.

And since I’ve already invested in all the nifty professional audio equipment for it, I’m planning on recording audio-articles in the coming year. Before you ask (actually, some of you have already asked), I don’t think podcasting is really my thing. But it remains a possibility.

I’ve also started working on my next book which is going to be an espionage novel. I’ve actually been writing short stories for around twenty years. It’s some of the first stuff I’ve ever written for other people. I started formulating it into one long narrative a few years ago, but put it on the back-burner when Surveillance Zone came into the picture. But now that the publication of Surveillance Zone is behind me, I’ve been putting a lot of work into this new project. I’m hoping to publish it sometime in 2018, but I can’t promise at this point.

So, that’s all folks…
Thanks again for making this an amazing year. We’re going to take a short commercial break during the holidays but please stay tuned for much much more in 2018.
